Vineyard Crossroads Church is part of the "Vineyard Community of Churches". The Vineyard movement began in 1982 in Anaheim, California under the leadership of John Wimber and Ken Gulliksen. (John Wimber shortly thereafter became the founder and original National Director or overseer of the Vineyard movement.) What began as a small group of people hungry for more of God and meeting in someone’s house, has grown to over one thousand Vineyard churches worldwide.
The Vineyard historically has emphasized bringing renewal to the existing Church and planting new Churches. Vineyard Crossroads Church was planted out of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Northeast El Paso (now known as Vineyard El Paso) in 1997.
Crossroads began primarily as a coffee house reaching out to the lost and marginalized youth of our city. The coffee house, originally funded by a state grant, was open several nights a week, and we had a church service on Sunday evenings. Our church was birthed through a passion for the really lost, a desperation for God, and mighty outpourings of God’s Spirit in our worship, prayer, outreaches, and weekly gatherings. We began Sunday morning services in the fall of 2000.
